Man Christmas was off the chain. It was David's first. He got everything...toys, clothes, gift cards, and tons of other things. He slept through most of the day, with no clue that he was being honored or that Jesus was celebrated.

We went to see the Great Debaters and I was encouraged. Good to see intelligent portrayal of minorities and plenty good biblical themes. I did get choked up a couple of times...so!

Then came New Years Eve...AKA my wifey's big Birthday Bash. Darragh had her first ever surprise party. It was a blast. Thanks to all who came and helped me pull it off.

All the family came to Memphis for Thanksgiving. My Parents and my wife's (Darragh) parents. Not to mention my favorite 18 year old sister Giani!
We laughed, we ate, we took pics, we recorded. Then we ate, we played spades and dominoes, and slept...and then we ate again. Good times.
This was a time of firsts. Our parents first time leaving Texas for Thanksgiving. Darragh and my first Thanksgiving in Memphis, and of course our son,David's first Thanksgiving...ever.
We all ate well and were happy. Especially David.

It was a blessing to see family and friends getting along and truly enjoying each other. It was so authentic and real. No one feeling forced to get along or make conversation just real life and real love.
The Cowboys won too so people were in good spirits.
I really thank God for the way our families get along. If the foundation is in Christ and not relativism or being cordial, life is not contrived and fake. I know there is nothing sustaining or satisfying in this life. Nothing of earthly substance can quiet our hearts desire. But the Glory of God through Jesus manifest through relationships is incredible.

WHAT IS A MAN ANYWAY?

I'm sitting in the Airport in Dallas just kind of tripping out. This is the first time I've been away from my family in second and I miss em! On the other end last night's concert in Corpus was really good.

Been studying on authentic masculinity and truthfully I've been challenged. Did you know most men don't have any idea what it means to be a man? Basically we think:
1. Dont Cry.
2. Don't show too much emotion.
3. Be responsible.
4. Respect is your identity.
5. Drink Beer
6. Enjoy sports enough to talk about it in the barber shop.
If Jesus was the ultimate man...we have a long way to go.

Learning how to be a Dad too! For some reason I think this video is NOT the way to play with your kids.

No we did not go trick or treating on October 31st. I did have fun taking a group of boys from my hood to a Grizzlies vs Spurs game. (We lost of course.)

Lastly um...well dressed up like parents looked festive thanks to Aunt Shirley.

Well Im in the most pain I've been in a second. I woke up and entered into the workout season of my life.

6 am I'm the gym HURRRRTING!!
Nothing like a GOOD LAUGH to make you forget about the pain.

Had a great Concert this month in Memphis. Red Revolution was the title. About enjoying diversity seeing the world "RED" not simply as black or white or hispanic but as Christians. 1st Peter 2:9 "But you are a chosen race..." Seeing the world through the lens of Christ.

I mean do I really need a blog? Some people seem to think so. Being that I travel heavy and live hundreds of miles away from all my extended family members, this might help a bit. I'm hoping to connect with you all on this one.
